OET (Occupational English Test) Format
The duration of this test is approximately 3 hours. There are four main parts of the test namely – Reading, Listening, Writing and Speaking.
Listening
The duration is 40 to 60 minutes, where the applicant gets a note-taking task and the second part here deals with multiple choice questions and fills in the blanks. It is based on a lecture that you need to listen attentively.
Listening topics are general in nature, so all you need to do is to be a little attentive.
Reading
This is of one-hour duration with two parts. The first part will have 4 short texts and the second part contains 2 lengthy passages. With fill in the blanks and multiple-choice questions, your understanding is being assessed here.
The questions are in-depth in nature, so be prepared.
Writing
In 45 minutes duration, you need to write a letter pertaining to follow-up, referral or discharge. It is entirely based on case notes provide to you.
Speaking
In twenty minutes, there will be role-plays. You play the role of a nurse and the examiner will be the patient. Communication and behavior needs to be in accordance with the situation provided to you.
Score
OET has a band score of A-E grade. Be prepared beforehand as the acceptable grades are only A or B.
